Examples of Newspaper Posters

After the front cover and first page of my local newspaper I need to begin to think about is the poster formy newspaper. The poster that I am going to create will advertise my newspaper and will feature my newspaper front cover. Most newspaper posters link to a story or offer that is featured in that day's edition. Here are a couple of examples of posters from two national newspapers, The Sunday Mirror and The Sun.

Nearly Finished Newspaper First Page

I think I have near enough completed my newspaper first page, I think I am about 90% - 95% happy with it at the moment. The only section of the page that I am not totally convinced with is top left hand corner where there currently is a mini-masthead. It is the same masthead as the one used on the front page as I wanted to keep a familiar theme throughout my newspaper. I have put a sub-heading below the mini-masthead saying, 'Your Local Area. Your Local News.' this sums my newspaper as it is local and I want it to get the readers involved and make it feel like they are part of the paper not just living in the local area on which the paper writes about. I have made the colour of this bit of text blue and yellow as from past research that those two colours are often associated with Portsmouth. All I need to do now is do some possible minor tweaks and then I should be done with the first page.

Another Draft Of Newspaper First Page

I have completed another draft of my newspaper first page, the page is actually very close to completion with just a few minor tweaks that are needed to be done. Today I have added my advert to the page, extended the weather report to giving a forecast for the whole week and I have also near enough completed the article about the closure of the community centre. All that I will need to do now is just look over the page and see what can tweaked or improved to complete the page.

Weather Reports

One of the features for my newspaper first page is the weather report which from looking at other newspapers is regularly featured on this page of the paper. I looked at a couple of different weather reports in newspapers, first of all i looked at the Portsmouth News where they have a daily, detailed weather report which gives an overview of the weather forecast for the day of release and the rest of the week. I also looked at the weather report for The Express on their website. the report for The Express was similar to the report of the Portsmouth News which made me think about doing my weather report in a similar way as well. My weather report however will not as detailed as The Express as they are targeting a different audience and as I am creating a local newspaper which is focusing more on the local news.

Newspaper First Page Advert

For the first page of my newspaper I have created an advertisement that will feature in my newspaper. The advert that I have made links in with my newspaper as it asking people to let the newspaper know if have a local, newsworthy story. This will make the reader feel like they are a part of the paper themselves, which gives them a level of interactivity.

1st Draft Of Newspaper First Page

Today I have been working on my local newspaper first page, having already taken the pictures which for the first page story I first of all needed to decide which image I would use. I chose to use this picture.

I think that this image would be most suited to my page as when I placed it on to the page, to me it looked right and fitted in well. I have also started to write my story to go with the image about the local community centre closing down. I also near enough finished the local weather report which from looking at other local newspapers is usually featured in the first page of their newspapers. Next week I need to aim to finish my page by completing the main story, creating a possible advert and filling in the spaces on the page. After this I need to think about the newspaper's website and a poster advertising my local newspaper.

Mock Up Of Newspaper First Page

After finishing my local newspaper front cover I am now moving on to the first page of my newspaper. I have already taken the pictures for the first page story which is based on a local community centre closing down. I now need to think about the story itself and how I am going to write it. I also need to think about what advertisements I am going to put on this page of my newspaper, and how much of the page is going to be taken up with adverts. Like I did for the front cover, I have made a mock up of the first page showing how I am going to lay it out when I start to properly design it.

Over The Xmas Break

Over the Christmas holidays I have been thinking up what I am going to do for my local newspaper and specifically the newspaper's first page. I already have images for this page so now I need to think about adverts, the article and other items to feature on this page. I am probably going to feature some form of weather forcast on the first page as when looking at other newspaper pages they seem to have the weather featured somewhere on the first page. After this I will begin to think about my newspapers website and poster.
